Michael Bublé's Everything

The song I chose is Everything by Michael Buble. This song from his album Call Me Irresponsible is an album my dad played on repeat when I was a kid. In the song, Michael very beautifully compares his wife to inanimate objects to describe his affection for her.  This can be seen when he compares her to a nice cold swimming pool on a warm august day or a falling star. Referring to her as metaphors to lovely things in life You're a falling star, you're the get away car You're the line in the sand when I go too far You're the swimming pool on an August day And you're the perfect thing to see And you play you're coy, but it's kinda cute Oh, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do Baby, don't pretend that you don't know it's true 'Cause you can see it when I look at you And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times It's you, it's you; you make me sing You're every line, you're every word, you're...

Lesson 5: In The Palm of Your Hand

Original: Causing terror with heaps of toddler energy, Running frantically through the park, In the frequently overcast And gloomy town of Ames, Iowa. Reluctantly I make my way back to apartment 207, Being dragged away from a bubble of fun, But just as the rain started to trickle down to our little world,  My eyes were suddenly  heavy and I became overwhelmed with tiredness, My mother magically transporting me back home. Before I know it I’m back in the comfort of familiarity, The  warm and dim ambient lighting , Gently filling the small square of our living room, With our blush deep brown couch,  Smothered in  vivid throw pillows . But instead, I lay on the soft caramel-colored carpet, Curled up with  my soft pink blanke t, Looking to the big sliding glass doors, With  the pearly lighting reflecting in , Stealing attention away from the overhead lights, I peer out into  the rainy unknown . The r...

Lesson 2: In The Palm of Your Hand

The scorching sun of a California summer left me with a nasty sunburn. My brother swiftly slapped my back, Sending searing pain throughout my body. He darted to the door to evade our Mother, as warm tears started flowing down my face. Leaving me alone and hurt. The thought came to me quickly, revenge. Finding a soft neon green yarn I ran to his room and stole his prized possessions, A collection of Nerf Guns. I tied them with expertise to our second-floor banister, My small and nimble fingers knotting them together, For my brother to get home and look up our stairwell with terror in his eyes, seeing his favorite toys ruined.

The Real Poetry of You

Antique furniture, Umbrella, unread books, a usually made bed, used and dirty clothing scattered, Red lipstick painted across my lips, "Oh my god" her lips uttered, Running away from all the monsters that haunt my dreams, Anxiously playing with my hair as an excuse to fidget, A picture of friends, my baby blanket, my piano, my phone, and an heirloom necklace Naughty and mischevious dogs causing hilarious havoc Doritos Chile Limon Dinamitas are the best snack on the planet, Eager to know everything about everyone Rara, Rora, Roarry, Rosie, are all names id respond to, Surprisingly tall with long painted nails and partially blue hair, Oversized sweaters paired with ripped jeans and vans is the peak of fashion, Never stop trying to look on the bright side in the meantime.

List Poem: Dogs!

The dog with the long and shaggy hair. The dog with a plethora of spots. The dog that always barks incessantly. The blind dog with kind and cloudy eyes. The dog missing a leg but still runs like the wind. The dog that served its country and community. The dog that lives on the streets looking for food. The dog that wears a blue-collar. The dog that is incredibly small. The dog that chases small animals. The dog that loves belly rubs. The dog that naps in the warm sunshine. The dog that goes on runs with its owner. The dog that is dying of cancer. The dog with pointed ears. The dog that is so big it could be mistaken for a horse. The dog with the brown speckled nose. The dog that ran away and was never seen again. The dog I used to babysit next door. The dog with the coarse coat. The dog with different colored eyes. The dog that hates the bitter cold of winter. The dog that is very old. The dog that plays with the children. The dog that g...
