Lesson 2: In The Palm of Your Hand
The scorching sun of a California summer
left me with a nasty sunburn. My brother
swiftly slapped my back,
Sending searing pain throughout my body.
He darted to the door to evade our Mother,
as warm tears started flowing
down my face.
Leaving me alone and hurt.
The thought came to me quickly, revenge.
Finding a soft neon green yarn I ran to his room
and stole his prized possessions,
A collection of Nerf Guns.
I tied them with expertise to our second-floor banister,
My small and nimble fingers knotting them together,
For my brother to get home and look up our stairwell
with terror in his eyes, seeing his favorite toys ruined.
